Ray and Livy bought five female pigs in the hope that some livestock might bring in some extra income. They decided to breed them so they rang up Hank & Martha who coincidentally had five male pigs. They decided to mate the pigs and split everything 50/50. Their farms were about eight miles apart, so they agreed to use a common field in which to let the pigs mate.
The first morning, Ray got up at 5 am, loaded up the pigs into the Beet Box and drove out to the field.
While the pigs were doing the deed, he asked Hank "How will I know if they are pregnant?"
Hank replied, "If they're in the grass in the morning, they're pregnant, if they're in the mud, they're not."
The next morning the pigs were all rolling in the mud. So Ray hosed them all off, loaded them back into the Beet Box and proceeded to try again. Same thing day after day. This continued each morning for weeks. All the snorting and squealing....mercy, it was quite a sight.
One morning Ray was so pooped, he couldn't get out of bed. He called to Livy, "Please look outside and tell me whether the pigs are in the mud or in the grass."
"Neither," yelled Livy, "they're all in the truck, and one of them is honking the horn !!"
